The problematic Mr BlairReader comment on item: An Arab Prince Denounces Islamism Submitted by Alexander (United Kingdom), Dec 27, 2014 at 00:13 You mention Tony Blair's "fine speeches" on "Islamism", an entity whose existence I simply cannot acknowledge. Mr Blair finds this newly minted term useful for describing all the worst aspects of islam, considering them as as something quite apart from the pure, pristine and peaceful religion which is islam. His "lack of follow up" is deplorable, certainly, but his reluctance stems directly from this warped evaluation. Mr Blair has stated very recently that "for those of us who know islam" it is an enlightened faith, completely pacific in character, and finds it so inspiring that he reads the Qur'an every night. Given his monumental misreading of the facts, one has to ask what on earth this discredited man has to offer in the struggle against the most formidable enemy to pitch itself against humanity in the history of humanity. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: He has given fine speeches on Islamism and balances these with no action and praise of Islam. In the end, it does not amount to much. But the speeches remain excellent. Reader comments (42) on this item
