Pink slip in the mailReader comment on item: What Syrian Chemical Weapons Reveal about Obama Submitted by Michael S (United States), Jul 8, 2015 at 22:31 Thanks fort he comment, Tovey. In case any readers are wondering, my comment "the Republic of Oregon could easily defeat the US..." continued "under the current Administration (namely, Obama)"; and this, in turn, was a sarcastic joke about Obama's inability to deal with enemies of the US. Joking aside, I pray every day for Obama, so that things may go well for our children and grandchildren. Concerning Isaiah 5, I see this less as a prophecy against Israel, as a prophecy against Christendom. Just read it: [1] Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: God is talking about "His vineyard". Don't Christians believe that THEY are now God's vineyard? God has already dealt severely with Israel, subjecting them to a 2000 year exile, complete with a holocaust. Meanwhile, the torch of God's word has passed, so to speak, to the Christian countries, who spread it to the ends of the earth. What is their condition now? They are champions of homosexuality and atheism, Meccas of hedonism who have abandoned God. Israel, meanwhile, is probably more religious than it was at its founding. I think we are generally in agreement here: a world-wide judgment is in the offing. I don't think it's worth commiserating about the coming wrath. My concern with prophecies concerning our times, is something of an exercise in "watching the clock". I don't believe anyone will be "raptured" from these times; so I need to gauge my plans and movements carefully. I don't expect things to start melting down all around us, as some seem to think. In fact, I expect something of a boom time in the coming decade or two: a time for the unwary to forget God and throw off restraint; and for the righteous to see danger coming and prepare. As I said, I don't expect a rapture: When trouble comes, people will be in great need, both in and out of the church. We need to be in a position, as much as possible, to help them when that happens -- as individuals, not as governments. Concerning governments, I think their pink slip from God is in the mail.
