This being said, i do not get why America's government has fallen so deep in love with Turkey. And this is not a recent story. We are talking for the last 50-60 years at least.

It's geography. Turkey holds strategic real-estate: lands that, when they controlled them, allowed the Greeks to dominate the Mediterranean for over 1000 years.

We shouldn't be supporting the Muslims against Christians, as we did in Cyprus. Nevertheless, this is nothing new: The French were allies with the Ottomans for nearly 300 years.
