Occam's Razor

The simplest explanation that fits the facts is usually the best. Erdoğan supports the anti-Assad forces. Putin actively supports Assad with military and ordinance, which could be a game changer. Erdoğan had to show Putin he is serious regardless of the consequences. If all Putin does is apply economic pressure, Erdoğan wins----since when does a potentate worry about the short-term effect on his people?!
