Immigration to the US: Pork Eating, Muhammad Painting, Fatwa Fleeing, or Gay MuslimsReader comment on item: Identifying Islamists through Interrogations Submitted by Robert (United States), Mar 8, 2016 at 12:34 About half a century ago Europe had gone through the Protestant Reformation, a consequence of which was the termination of execution by Burning Alive at the Stake. It appears that Islam now is faced with the prospect of its own "reformation." Unfortunately, there is no current known popular "reformer," like Martin Luther, who was under the protection from the Catholic Pope by a Sovereign King in Germany. Accordingly, we should have an immigration policy that looks to creating forums in the United States for Muslim immigrants who have become secular, or liberal, and wish to promote the right to eat Ham Sandwiches. Similarly, there may be great Muslim painters who wish to restore the Persian custom of painting great portraits of Muhammad - just like the Renaissance painters had done in Europe; these artists should be granted permission to immigrate to the United States. Victims of a Fatwa, like Rushdie, who are under a death threat, and in danger of being executed, as has just happened to a prosecutor in Pakistan, should also be granted the right to asylum in the United States. And of course, Muslims who are Gay, for which condition they are being hanged in Iran, would also do the reform of Islam a great good by being allowed to the protection of liberty loving Americans; this would particularly help reform since there are something like 1.5 billion Muslims in the world (don't quote me on this number), and assuming that a significant percentage are homosexual, their immigration to the USA would hopefully give a voice to sexual orientation freedom in Islam. Essentially, the United States should become proactive in encouraging the reform of Islam - just as the Kings and Princes of Europe had become protectors of the Protestants who rebelled against Roman Catholicism and had to flee The Inquisition, and being Burned Alive for the Crime of Heresy. We must remember that our Constitutions (at least 51, by counting those of the 50 states) is the Law of the Land of the United States and its Territories which grants rights to its own Citizens and Residents (including Illegal Residents); it does not extend to foreigners who have not yet landed on its shores. Therefore, we Americans are totally free to determine for ourselves who will become one of us. And if we feel that too many Muslims outside our shores or borders are "Un-American," there is nothing in our Constitution (federal) to prohibit us from Discriminating as to whom we wish to Reside among us, or to become our fellow Citizens. We do not live in a perfect world. To discriminate, unjustly, against a fellow American, citizen or resident, is Unconstitutional, as well as Immoral. But the opposite is true when it comes to Muslims who are currently, for example, in the Middle East, and want to come here because they cannot live as Muslims among their own followers of the Profit Muhammad. It is rather ironic - to say the least - that because these peoples are massacring each other in the name of Muhammad abroad, we should grant them permission to come here to practice the very religion which is the source of their conflict. Of course, a similar even happened in our own past, when the fanatic Puritans fled to settle in our Colonies - Salem, Mass. The result was burning of women as witches. And we as Americans have suffered for quite some time from the extreme puritanicalism which was transported to our shores when the Cromwell's Revolution failed. Why should we create a haven for Muslims who have not yet reformed their religion for life in the 21st Century? Furthermore, do we need the dissemination of the lie that Islam is a religion of peace? Similarly, the word, Islamophobia, appears like an oxymoron: only the innocence of a child ("The Emperor has no Cloths") can see that with 15% Islamists among the Muslims (using Daniel Pipe's statistic) Islam, or Muslims are to be feared: in a room of 100 random Muslims, and you paint a picture of Muhammad, an unknown 15 of them will contemplate kill; but maybe only one will do so!
