Stop wondering why Burkini is protested more than BurkhaReader comment on item: ISIS Imposes a Partial Ban on Burqas Submitted by Prashant (United States), Sep 6, 2016 at 21:38 Dear Dr Pipes, Please stop wondering why Burkini is disliked more than Burkha. First of all it is ugly (No, it is not a wet suit. Wet suits are needed, comfortable and serve a useful purpose). Second, its name, somehow, sounds ugly. And, finally, there is a place for everything. Burkha may or may not belong on on a city street but most humans associate free spirit with the oceans and beaches. Burkini appears so confining and so much against the spirit of being on a beach. In fact, barring the resons of safety, I will rather not mind a burkha on the city street but would mind a Burkini on he beach. For Pete's sake, Prophet Muhammad would/could never conceived a Burkini in his mind! Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
