Trust Muslims?

When ISIS took over Mosul, they went around to all the houses of Christians and put "n" on the doors, meaning Nazarene, referring to Jesus. How did they know which houses belonged to Christians? They did not live in segregated neighborhoods. The local Muslims who had always been the neighbors of the Christians and even friends, squealed on them.Now that some areas are being liberated, the Christians are afraid to return and they don't know how they can deal with these neighbors.
