It is not only in EuropeReader comment on item: Europe's Epochal Elections Submitted by Vadim Anshelevich (United States), Dec 8, 2016 at 23:48 Daniel PIpes: "Hofer's near-victory has immense implications, suggesting that if legacy parties do not steal the insurgents' thunder in time, those insurgents will eventually reach power on their own.Together, then, the French and Austrian elections suggest Europeans have two alternate paths to reject multi-culturalism, Islamism, and unceasing immigration: either by transforming legacy parties or supporting insurgent parties" This is a very important observation. And it important not only with regards to Europe, but to America as well. Despite the author's very eloquently expressed criticism of Donald Trump, I guess, he should recognize that it is Trump who is the first who is actually trying to move the legacy party - Republican Party, toward policies that can potentially prevent appearance of real insurgent party. If he succeed we have to be grateful to him at least for this. If decent people are shy of cleaning the mess, they provide an opportunity to do it to less than decent people. Results could be horrendous.
