Are muslims religious?Reader comment on item: [The Canadian Islamic Congress:] An Islamist Apology Submitted by Frank (Taiwan), Jul 20, 2005 at 11:21 Please read the comment of Naz: 'Apology to an infidel? You are kidding'I would like to comment mainly on his/her piece, I wonder if the following strategy would be feasable: Compare all 'big' religions of the world (Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Taoist ,moslim....etc). Let 'experts' make a list of similarities and differences these religions teach concerning 'important rules' a society should observe in order to make it a stable structure. (like the 10 Commandments for Christians). Let these experts make a list about what each of these relegions teach regarding 'unbelievers' (What does a Hindu say about an un-Hindu?). Let these experts make a list regarding 'punishment' (the consequence of doing 'wrong') and 'reward' (the consequence of doing 'good'). What is considered good, what is considered evil? There are numerous interesting practical aspects (like treatment of men / women) which would be great to compare. From countless articles I read, regarding the London Bombings I get the impression that the Islam is either misunderstood extremely easily by it's followers, or that it is far inferior to the other religions of this world. It's not a religion but a 'soldier's' manual to wipe out 'non-moslims'. Hate, war and kill are the impressions I get as a layman. Suppose sanity prevails for a change and we (experts and 'non-muslims infidels') conclude the islam is a distorted cult, forbid it and take actions which we cannot do now because it still has the status 'religion'.... At the 'end of the day' can we go on with our own lives instead of continually being annoyed, intimidated or blown to pieces by some 'suicide-fidel' who thinks he will go to 'heaven' with 70 virgins waiting for him lying on gold and diamonds? As for Daniel Pipes I would like to say :'we need more men with your character and vision'. Thanks for being around. Please keep up the good work. It is needed in these dark times. Good luck, Frank
