I find much of the commentary on the ME, Islam, and the US role in the ME to be entirely tendentious. Your experience of the conference merely confirms my impression. I wonder what your father would say about this. He was one of my favourite professors at Harvard, but he has remained in academe and continues to fight the fight from within.
