More Critical Analysis Needed of Israeli WeaknessesReader comment on item: A Palestinian Victory at the Temple Mount Submitted by Dave (United States), Jul 27, 2017 at 08:57 My congratulations to MEF on the Victory Project. It's great to see tangible organizational efforts going on in Congress and Israel. The underlying concept of discouraging all hopes of destroying Israel demonstrates keen awareness in the know-your-enemy column of Sun-Tzu's checklist for victory. Sun Tzu also advised knowing oneself, but self-criticism can be very tough indeed. Yet, it's necessary to achieve victory so that flaws can be considered and corrected if possible. In this case, there are weaknesses that can impede victory. One stark example is this latest lifting of the Temple Mount metal detectors. Jewish Israelis have a tradition rooted in an ethic which teaches kindness and consideration, the Golden Rule, even towards enemies; Genesis says that all human beings were created in the divine image. Although many Israelis undoubtedly harbor feelings of hatred and fear towards their adversaries, they nonetheless ultimately want to live in peace with them as equals. Jewish morality, unlike Islamism, is all about coexistence, not domination. To further complicate things, Jews were powerless for centuries and were themselves victims of the powerful. Consequently, many Jews are uncomfortable wielding power. These characteristics need to analyzed and weighed carefully when crafting a project which calls for a certain measure of steadfastness and sang-froid.
