Our dear Amir needs to read with care! Part 2Reader comment on item: Why Do You American Conservatives Keep Losing? Submitted by dhimmi no more, Oct 22, 2018 at 14:56 Our dear Amir Sani who lives among Catholics in Canada and not among the Saudis and I wonder why >I wrote:"Based on your own definition if conservatism had always won since 1600s, we would still be living under autocrat monarchies and religious intolerance of the Catholic church."And Dhimmi no more responded: So you agree with me that it was not the Catholic Church but it was Islam that dragged Europe into the Dark ages and the Middle Ages? Thank you our dear Amir! >Regardless of what caused the dark age in Europe, the Catholic Church was indeed the symbol of religious intolerance in Europe in 1600s. So the Catholic Church was not the cause or even a cause right? Do you think it was an effect rather than the cause? Hint: It was the Islamic invasions and jihad against Europe! >If you are talking about the Islamic world, it is still stuck in its religious intolerance because it has not embraced the ideas of classic liberalism and is sticking to its 1400-year old traditions. So your example actually confirms my point. Hint: The Islamic world is still stuck in 7th century Arabia >Dr. Pipes responded that his definition of conservatism is "supporting the traditions and adopting to new circumstances." But new circumstances are generated from new ideas, and those will not come without freeing one's mind from traditions. Dr Pipes is correct. Hint: Conservatism is about critical thinking and skepticism and these critical skills are needed in running very complex economic, legal, and industrial systems. Compare this with liberals that take chances and some times these chances work and some times they don't This is why liberals and conservatives are needed to work together and this is why "West is Best" (in the words of Ibn Warraq) as long as Islam does not drag the West again into the Middle Ages Now do you get it?
