Our dear Amir Sani who lives among Catholics in Canada and not among the Saudis and I wonder why

So the Catholic Church was not the cause or even a cause right? Do you think it was an effect rather than the cause? Hint: It was the Islamic invasions and jihad against Europe!

Dr Pipes is correct.

Hint: Conservatism is about critical thinking and skepticism and these critical skills are needed in running very complex economic, legal, and industrial systems. Compare this with liberals that take chances and some times these chances work and some times they don't This is why liberals and conservatives are needed to work together and this is why "West is Best" (in the words of Ibn Warraq) as long as Islam does not drag the West again into the Middle Ages
