What?????? Did you really say that?Reader comment on item: Why Do You American Conservatives Keep Losing? Submitted by The pragmatic conservatarian (United States), Nov 18, 2018 at 15:30 Your article states: "Liberals are those who believe in each person's unlimited capacity on his own to figure things out rationally, the heirs of Tony Blair and Barack Obama." You misunderstand your opponent. There is nothing rational about the postmodern revolution we are witnessing. Liberal leaders are morally corrupt intellectuals who are are assigning wacky ideas to a gullible public who unthinkingly parrot them back. Liberals believe in the unlimited capacity for human beings to be dependent on government and other institutions. Liberals believe in the unlimited capacity of individuals to be manipulated by immature idealism (an oxymoron if there ever was one!). Liberals believe in the endless adjustments to our constitution and established systems until we no longer have anything that even remotely looks like a meritocracy, let alone a country. Liberals have taken over the universities to indoctrinate young adults by suppressing free thought and free speech through incredibly devious means. Our team needs to up their game! The right (including the Trump populists) have a unifying basic belief in the inherent creative genius of the American people to achieve a good honest life when not endlessly interfered with by bloated government influenced by special interests. In my opinion thought leaders like you mess up when you criticize the left without sufficiently promoting the great unassailable ideas and values of the Right. for example: The presumption of innocence, rule of law, First and Second Ammendment, belief in the ability of individuals to make a life for themselves without being dependent, Capitalism, faith in God and the individual, the evils of Crony Capitalism and Socialism. Conservatives insist too much on purity of ideology and character to be practical; this is why Trump is having such a hard time pushing his largely conservative agenda. Its also why the house is now dominated by the Democrats. Dr. Pipes, I hope next election you can "stoop" to supporting our president who you erroneously labeled as a potential future Fascist.
