It won't work.Reader comment on item: Still Skeptical [of Trump's Israel Policy] Submitted by Michael S (United States), Oct 24, 2018 at 08:26 HI, Robert You have made a fair effort at trying to work out a solution for "The Arab-Israeli Problem". Forgive my pessimism; but (1) I don't think it will work -- nor, for that matter, will anyone elese's "solution", including Dr. Pipes' "victory" proposition. Also, (2) I never cease to be amazed that so many leaders, NGOs, other groups and individuals have burdened themselves with what goes on in 0.018% of the world's land area. The Bible predicts wars in Israel, interspersed with periods of truce. A major attack by Turkey is expected (Ezek. 38-39), followed by a peace of about seven years, followed by a world-wide nuclear war. After that comes the "Messianic Kingdom", which is not clearly defined. That's what the Bible says. Others expect different things: Theodor Herzl predicted a utopia, with elevated railroads and a replacement for the Suez Canal. Others have other ideas. Former Israeli President Shimon Perez had his own vision, which I consider a fantasy: ""In The New Middle East Peres offers a compelling vision of the future for his region. He sees a reconstructed Middle East, free of the conflicts that plagued it in the past, set to take its place in a new era - an era that will not tolerate backwardness or ignorance." Karl Marx had his own ideas, Hitler had his, and I'm sure George Soros also has his. Perhaps the best argument I can present, supporting the idea that NONE of these plans will work, is that they all conclude with a utopian vision. I give exception to the Biblical predictions, because they are backed up by a credible source of power and wisdom, namely, God. The rest are doomed for the trash heap, including Trump's proposals (which have not even been revealed yet). Daniel 9 predicts a truce or treaty of some sort: [27] And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. As you can see, even that ends up, in Middle East fashion, in treachery and betrayal. Let Trump and Kushner dream on... Let Soros dream on... Let everyone else dream on... It won't work.
