Resistance toward Islamic usurpationReader comment on item: Islam Drives the Social and Legal Agenda in the West Submitted by Prashant, Dec 25, 2018 at 19:11 Dear Dr Pipes, in reference to your blog entitled 'Islam Driving the social and legal agenda in the West" I will like to bring to your attention a new development. It has been widely discussed that Muslims draw maximum advantage from the freedoms available in free and democratic societies. It is well known that they occupy the streets in many a cities around the world on Fridays for their prayers without being cognizant of the inconvenience they cause to everyone else. It is more and more difficult for the democratic governments to stop this behavior due to the presence of apologists and vested interests among us. But ,occasionally, some governments indeed muster up enough courage to stand up against Islamist's selfish behavior. Please take a look at the reference cited by me below. The government in the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) in India is ultra conservative. In fact, just like the Hungarian nationalists about whom you wrote sometime back, many stands of the UP government are seriously flawed. But nevertheless this government recently took a courageous step. It asked Muslims to pray in mosques and not in the parks of a major Indian industrial city. Though I do not agree with all stands of this government, I applaud it for standing up to Islamic politics. I believe that prayers are matters of spirituality and humility and should be done in the privacy of people's homes and prayer-houses. When I see thousands of people congregating in noisy places for prayers, I smell politics and not spirituality in their intentions. Finally, the fight against fundamentalist Islam is not that of one person or one country. It is a fight of all people in all countries against undemocratic and fundamentalist forces. Where ever we see this fight going on, we need to support it.
