The Trump Peace Plan, Anyone?Reader comment on item: Trump's Mideast 'Deal of the Century' May Be a Raw One for Israel Submitted by G Marcus (United States), Jan 24, 2019 at 00:13 The PA doesn't want it, they prefer the status quo (without Israel's military presence Hamas would inevitably take over and Fatah leadership would be toast); Israel doesn't want it, she prefers the status quo (indefensible borders and West Bank under Hamas rule are certainly not security options); Trump doesn't want it, he prefers the status quo (why propose something he knows will get rejected and discredit his presidency?); Jordan doesn't want it, she prefers the status quo (a strong Palestinian state would undermine the Hashemite regime and eventually take over Jordan with its Palestinian majority); Saudi/Gulf states and Egypt don't want it, they prefer the status quo (as the only military power that, with US support, can defeat the Mullah regime, they desperately need Israel's help on Iran); So who wants it? Nobody! See, finally we have an Agreement in the Middle East... This must be "as good as its gets" for Arab-Israel coexistence and stability in a most dysfunctional region!!!
