The Mongols were expert archers and related to the TurksReader comment on item: Turks in Early Muslim Service Submitted by Dave, Feb 21, 2019 at 18:51 That is not to say that the Turks are all directly descended from the Mongols, though there is genetic evidence of kinship. There was probably a significant influence which showed itself in martial skills; the Mongols were skilled archers, fierce warriors and effective conquerors. The pundit Fjordman has quipped that we're lucky that the Mongols didn't sacralize their conquests as the Arabs did, or the BBC and the NY Times would be chastising us for Genghisophobia. A comment on your article: It's interesting that so many soldiers and even rulers were slaves. Slavery must have been much more accepted back in the day than later on, perhaps because it meant more than just cheap labor.
