The Turks in al-Ahadith

Dr Pipes,

Thank you and very interesting indeed. Here is the infamous hadith from Sahih al-Bukhari about Muhammad "prophesying" about the "last hour" and the Turks

لاتقوم الساعة حتى تقاتلوا الترك صغار العين حمر الوجوه ذلف الأنوف كأن وجوههم المجان المطرقة ولاتقوم الساعة حتى تقاتلوا قوما نعالهم الشعر

This can be rendered as: The last hour will only come when you fight the Turks (those with) small eyes and red faces and flat noses and their faces are flat like flattened (metal) and the hour will not come until you fight people whose shoes are made of hair

And we know that this is far from the truth. False prophet with a false prophecy?
