A SolutionReader comment on item: Repairing America's Broken Universities Submitted by GEORGE ZILBERGELD (United States), Mar 20, 2019 at 22:08 Perhaps the university can be repaired in an eaasier manner. We need only demand a CORE curriculum and a liberal arts major that is in accordance with Treadgolds ideas. This would be very popular because it would obviously be for the smarter and harder working students. It could have a large coding section so parents would alllow their children to take such a major. It would also have a EMT requirement which would also be attractive because students would know that if there was a disaster and they wanted to help they could bring important skills to the disaster. This major would only use adjunct professors so they could be checked to see if they are teaching what they should be teching. It would be hard to publicly resist because it is hard to fight against choice on todays campuses. It would cost the university less than the current system. I have sought to have univerities institute such a plan, but you are an important scholar. I would like to work with you to institute such a plan. We could cultivate a new tribe that could change things quickly. Everyone who choose this set of a core and a new major would have a story to tell future schools or businessesvwhy they chose the harder path. We could create a new tribe. Please reply.
