Israel may have to befriend this tigerReader comment on item: China Disrupts the Middle East Submitted by Dave, Sep 10, 2019 at 20:25 Israel is too dependent on the US, and the fragility of that relationship should be apparent in Trump's mercurial disposition as well as in the drift by many Democrats towards the Loony Left. China has no history of antisemitism, and its intolerance towards Islam make it a good potential collaborative candidate for Israel. China also, to its credit, offers much more than just power assets, as is the case with Russia, such as hi-tech infrastructure and other economic benefits. On the downside, China hassles all religions, is a Communist dictatorship worthy of Big Brother, and will make you a deal worthy of Machiavelli. Most worrying, China has no qualms about appeasing the worst regimes to keep its oil flowing, as pointed out here. It is interesting that the Muslims refuse to confront China about the Uyghurs, but then bullies usually pick on softer targets. Yet, in the future, Israel may have no choice but to cozy up to China as a super-power alternative to the US. Before then, maybe those Hong Kong demonstrations will spread and China will reform.
