Reader comment on item: China Disrupts the Middle East

Submitted by Robert (United States), Dec 27, 2021 at 10:44

I hope you update this article soon. George Orwell wrote his work, we must recall, before the Digital Revolution. Much of this technological control was a bit anticipated in his book, 1984; apparently, he was merely mistaken regarding his timescale.

There may be some good news in all of this. China, through its Ideological Communism, is an ATHEIST state, and as such it is inconsistent with Islam or Islamist of any form. China's natural dependence on oil may eventually backfire.

Furthermore, Russia is fundamentally a Christian state with a vast Muslim population as well. So after Putin it may shift to the West, eventually joining NATO and the Middle East through its connections to Egypt and Syria.

And there is also the possibility of the rise of INDIA who's population is soon going to surpass China's vast 1.4 Billion. There is no reason why India, and its close neighbor, related but Muslim ("Indian") State, Bangladesh, cannot surpass China as an industrial and economic power; in fact, together, these 2 countries surpass the population of China, or will do so very soon.

China is deeply involved in financing failed states. Will these turn into "poison pills"? What is China doing, and going to do, in Afghanistan, for example? Will China be able to defeat Islamist because of it's spying through cell-phones which each Islamist uses?

What will happen to the Chinese Communist Party after the demise of its current leader, a leader who comes closest to Mao in Power and Control of the State, Government, and Party of China? Will China itself necessarily become a "Capitalist" State? Will the Communist Party of China itself become corrupt because it is (or will become) Communist in name only? And what will become the consequence of the absorption of Hong Kong into its midst? Will that itself corrupt further the Communism of China?

The essential weakness of China is its fundamental lack of natural resources, except for Rare Medals. Will non-carbon fuel replacement come in time for China?

And what will happen when the USA turns its attention to the Pacific? We think of Russia as far away from the USA. But that's only true on the Atlantic side. On the Pacific side, we are "next door" by way of Alaska. And, again, Russia is an Orthodox Christian State, having become a successor to Rome with the collapse of Constantinople and its Byzantine Empire.
