History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes. People wonder today how entire nations could turn their support to or remain silent during the rise of some of the most horrific leaders in our world's history. Mr. Pipes, do you truly think you've seen the worst of Trump's (fill in the blank)? Re-election will validate his bad behavior. Buckle up for a bobsled ride to the bottom. Are there still Democrats who don't think it could possibly happen? Listen, really listen to a Trump rally. It's like listening to a training session for Pavlov's dogs. We boo and shake our fists when he says fake or lame stream media.We cheer when he says MAGA or I love the flag more than anyone ever. Then at some cue lost on me, we start chanting Lock her up! It's frightening to watch. I'm no Hilary fan, but I truly worry for the physical safety of the people he targets as mostly publicity stunts. The anger in the crowd is palpable and so is the insidiously manufactured and stoked hate. Another leader in Mr. Troan's time had the same ability to tell crowds Exactly what they wanted to hear, true or not. Indeed, that leader's propaganda minister famously said something to the effect of, tell the same lie often enough, with conviction, and it becomes truth. Unfortunately, only those with a conversational grasp of German or those who studied the early formative years of that rise to power would see the parallels so clearly. I worry that not enough historians or constitutional scholars will outweigh the votes bought with the whistles some conservatives or elected officials want to hear which deafens them to the sound of Democracy crashing under the heel of a man who has shown me traits that run rampant in every Dear Leader to precede him. His type of leadership doesn't end well for anyone. Not even Caesar.

However, I can't believe the Democrats lukewarm choice and the Democrats have gone as far left as the Republicans have gone right. Where are the Moderates? Legislators who could actually work together to get things done? If ANY actual Republican would run, even as an Independent, I would Vote for them in a heartbeat. In the meantime, I worry what kind of country we'll become when Trump's time is up and he refuses to step down. There's a reason he idolizes Putin. Nyet, I do not want to live 4 more years in DTs accelerated destruction of Democracy.
