The UAE is presciently preparing for a Biden administration

Reader comment on item: Feeling Optimistic about Israel and the Emirates

While we're on the subject of predictions, my guess is that the UAE regime sees the election of Biden as likely. That would mean a reversion to the appeasement policies of the Obama administration on Iran, and strengthening the Mullahs is the last thing they want or need. It therefore makes perfect sense for them to shore up their defenses through a partnership with those technologically savvy "Zionist dogs." Along the same lines, I wouldn't be surprised if other Sunni states followed suit. There really is a crying need for a formal regional alliance to counter Iran, Turkey and assorted other crazies. It's just too bad that religious bigotry is such a strong headwind. And let's face it, most of those poor shlubs squawking about treason don't have as much to lose as the Gulf country club set.
I disagree that Netanyahu's talk of annexation was a bluff, and I'm happy to see that the possibility has not been permanently foreclosed, but only suspended. Israel is still way too small to be adequately defended and the neighborhood is still a jungle. Also, do you really think the UAE has made this "historic", carefully calculated risk, on behalf of the "Palestinians"? If so, I have a bridge to sell you. They are out for Number One and good for them.
