Dr Pipes,

Both ببلاش (with no charge) and بلاش (no charge) are correct in this context

This reference states that the word is of Turkish origin. I doubt it very much so I will check Badawi and Hinds. I believe that it is Coptic but I'm not sure and therefore I will also check Crum
