Consequences of Foreign Intervention:
Europe as a foreign influence in historical development (read redevelopment) is at best political intrigue extending the personality of the throne that desired conquest, to imprint themes of empire in places that would have been better left alone. As the saying goes, you will reap what you sow. What was sown was discontent, contempt (both ways), enmity and animosities of immeasurable damage; so much so, that whatever good will that might have been possible, was washed away in varying degrees of savagery and total disregard for the dignity of humanity. The better example of this is the grueling escapades of the crusades lasting for centuries; (they have never ended).
Islam, whatever history might be recording as to its effect on modern societal systems in the Middle East, cannot be dismissed as a continuing force to be contended with; not only does it intrude in the foremost minds of a majority population, but its influences in the minority sphere of Muslim populations compete on a spiritual level not too many know how to deal with. Why is that? Why, indeed, does the Christian population seem to have the most to lose if their belief in the Messiah that started Christianity is now compromised by less than a moral attitude that He is not Who the Hebrew Holy Scriptures say He is? Is this not the crux of the matter?
The dilution of a moral affirmation of the sanctity of the Hebrew Holy Writ and its witness to the Person the prophets reveal as the Holy One of Israel contributes to the ease in which the Islamic resurgence has in 'invading the colonial powers' that once invaded the Islamic realms. The reason that Western Culture was not able to fully curtail the Islamic realms was that their belief in the Messiah had been compromised; that the image of a 'Christ' replaced the personality of a Jewish Messiah. The result was/is that religion has been reduced to conform to Jeremiah's description of the mystery Babylon, a religion of the world. Islam fits here.
Personal Christianity is not perceived as a favorable way of life in Europe, 'comfortable Christianity' being adopted in many environments as a means of seeking some form of peace of mind; but when it runs counter to the counter-culture being released in lawless actions in many places, it takes on the dynamics of third world enmity towards true belief in a Savior, like it is occurring in Iran and elsewhere. There, while the Iranian Regimes runs out schemes of power mongering under the watchful eyes of Russian intrigue and Turkish collusion (and Chinese complicity), Islam is in the background in all of it; despite the agreement of the UAE and Bahrain, the world waivers.
So, the background battle rages, Western Culture versus the Asian influences under Islamic control, and no one side appears to have advantage over the other, even as Western influences appears on the wane. Now, certain events have presented possibilities of what will happen next, any one of them can trigger some action; that while Dr. Pipes perceptions have certain validity, it is the timing and placement that remains elusive and not until the real reason (Mahdaviat notwithstanding) for the animosities are revealed, will release of those ancient rages be foisted upon a humanity that has been ill-prepared for these times and the results will show the folly of it all.
