Dave said it the bestReader comment on item: The IDF Opts for Victory Submitted by Prashant (United States), Dec 17, 2020 at 21:13 Dear Dr Pipes, Your reader Dave said it best. I wish that President Trump had behaved little better, had done a little less harm to his cause, and had won the election. In our world today, Democracy is in peril. And the threat to democracy in democractic societies is more internal than external. Success of democracy depends on all voters voting their conscience independently. It also depends on politicians not glorifying and exploiting sectarian interests. But, unfortunately, (leftist) politicians have figured out a very simple lesson. They now know that it is easier to divide people into smaller groups and seek the support of each group than reach out to millions of individual voters and depend their individual conscience. As the world gets more and more "diversified", exploitable and exploiter minority groups are available in every democracy. Votes are not naturally divided. They are divided based on race, religion, ecoomic-status and such. It is not a surprise that both of our last two presidential elections were won by razor-thin margins. The politicians that address the main-stream voters, have fewer and fewer votes to work with. A substantially big fraction of votes automatically goes to the divide-and-rule left. This brings me to what I drew from Dave's well-put message. The task of doing the right thing now will have to be done by all of us. We will have to tell each other that if Islamic countries wanted to solve the problem of the (so called) Palestinian Muslims, they would have done it decades ago (there is no problem of Palestinian Christians or Palestinian Jews afterall!). We will have to ensure Israel that even if Biden-Harris abandons her, she will not be abandoned by all. We will have to tell the truth and repeat it over and over. We will have to call left's convenient lies about Islam and everything else. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
