An early victim of cancel cultureReader comment on item: Welcome, Conservatives, to Pariah Status Submitted by Jeff (United States), Jan 5, 2021 at 17:49 When Larry Summers had to resign as president of Harvard in 2005, I recall one woman said she was made physically sick by Summers' remarks. Noticed my wife seemed OK through it all, but somehow we had gone from I am woman hear me roar to I am woman watch me faint. I can understand disagreeing with Summers and arguing an opposing idea (not sure I heard even one) but I thought at the time the hysterical reaction was ridiculous. Little did I know hysterical reactions would become the norm, and that Larry Summers was an early victim of what blossomed into our cancel culture. Mindless hysteria worked great this time, so let's do more of it. Just keep excluding people from the public square while endlessly lecturing everyone on our inclusiveness.
