Why Islamism Still Exists When Much of The World Wants Peace From the IslamistsReader comment on item: Twenty Years After 9/11 Submitted by M Tovey (United States), Sep 12, 2021 at 22:03 In the vein of thinking that modern societies are still embroiled with the continuing assaults of Islamic pursuits of imposing 'ummah' after centuries of holding nearly unchallenged control over much of the European southern continent, that since the loss of the Ottoman empire's remaining territories to the modern alliances of the 'winning' side of the European collaborators, one wonders how the Islamists today really view their Islamism when it is obvious they might still be considered the 'underdogs;' but not really. Does anyone really view the Iranian Islamic Regime an underdog? It is really hard to underestimate that aspect of Middle Eastern politics when the Russians and the Chinese prefer to deal with the Orientalist Iranian Islamic Regime over the 'Western' alliances compromised of the United States, United Nations, most of the western members of the UN, NATO, and the other erstwhile national interests that cannot seem to pick a side. And then, it cannot be forgotten why Islamism still exists and remains the highest existential threat to Israel. Not to make too fine of a point of it, can it not be argued that Islamism exists because Israel exists. Really? When did Marxism ever advocate for peace? In the same way, Islamism and Islamists do not seek peace for it is not in the nature or desire of their way of life by which they seek power in the ambitions of empire. This has never been achieved in searches for peace. It is the bane of humanity. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
