HYBRID WARFARE & Don't shoot yourself in the foot.Reader comment on item: The Middle East Forum: Strategy, not Advocacy Submitted by Ludvikus aka Robert (United States), Dec 17, 2021 at 08:47 Dear Daniel Pipes, Wikipedia has a whole article on this Neologism. I just recommended to authoritative Merriam-Webster (MW) (American English dictionary) to adopt the term into its dictionary since I believe it is no longer a Neologism. MW is open to being contacted, by the way, and reads the recommendations of its readers. You advocate "Victory" as the way for Israel to achieve its strategic goals. However. you systematically maintain the distinction between Advocacy and Strategy for yourself and for the MIDDLE EAST FORUM (MEF). What follows from that is that you deprive yourself and your organization from achieving "Victory" in a world that's mostly engaged in HYBRID WARFARE. I urge you to research this concept (neologism) and the most recent scholarship on it since at least 2007; if you do that I think there is a chance that you may change your policies for the MEF. In brief, if you absorb the meaning of "Hybrid Warfare" I believe you may abandon you distinction between Strategy and Advocacy; in the alternative, you will reject the notion of Hybrid Warfare and stick to you narrow military view of Victory. But one of the nice things about you is that you are capable of admitting of making a mistake - not a common trait among intellectuals generally. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: Thank you for the compliment. But I do not see how hybrid warfare changes the distinction between advocacy (arguing for one's cause) and strategy (making plans to prevail). Reader comments (10) on this item
