Communication Theory? Psychology? Or Simply CAIR?Reader comment on item: Not Calling Islamism the Enemy Submitted by Ludvikus (United States), Feb 9, 2022 at 00:58 Dear Dr. Daniel Pipes, I just finished reading this Blog with much interest and curiosity. And it has caused me to ask you the questions which I did not find answered. In this "struggle" against "terrorism" (I'm being diplomatic at least) there is a Policy of not identifying the terror perpetrators as Muslims or believers in Islam. Now any of your readers knows that a Muslim is essentially someone who believes that" THERE IS NO GOG BUT GOD AND MUHAMMAD IS HIS MESSENGER. Accordingly, committing a crime, of terrorism, or some other crime, does not in itself strip that person of his or her status as a Believer. So what is the source of the this Policy - not to call a spade a spade? Is it some "scientific" "Communication Theory" understanding as to effectiveness in defeating Terrorism? The Collegiate major in Communication did not exist when you and I were undergraduates I know - certainly not in Harvard, where you were enrolled. Or is this Policy the consequence of some Psychological (or Sociological) informed clinical opinion? Finally, is CAIR - the Council on American Islamic Relations - behind this Policy? And is it based on the desire to avoid ISLAMOPHOBIA? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
