Cautionary Tale of Turkish Dominance as Perceived in this Forum Not One to Be Taken LightlyReader comment on item: Do NATO and Turkey Have a Future Together? Submitted by M Tovey (United States), Sep 4, 2022 at 21:38 Turkish Leader Erdoğan is operating in his own concoction of empire in recuperation, desiring to reestablish the Ottoman greatness that likely appears in daydreams that only he can see, but eventually he is willing to reveal when he thinks the timing appears at the best advantage. Subliminal to this is the perception Dr. Pipes alludes to here, that when the Russian is finally able to break past the restraints of the Ukraine, the muted alliance between the two will be able to take the form he expects will make Turkiye great again. What remains to be seen is if and how the way the NATO participation is set to edge out Greece and give Turkiye more control of the warm water access to the Black Sea and the certain advantages of an alleged alliance that dominance will provide.
