If No Siege Mentality is in View - Then What of the Claim That Democracy is Under Attack?Reader comment on item: Fighting the Last War Submitted by M Tovey (United States), Oct 20, 2022 at 19:52 American politics has never been safe from poltical abuse; not now; not even when the founders tried more than once to form a government whose potential forms went from making George Washington king (he refused) to the Articles of Confederation to what had been the Constitutional frame of reference that was compromised by seculariatic obfuscation of religious influences blown out of proportion (freedom of religion versus freedom from religion- which is worse). That attack on American freedom rages today. January 6 contentions are an outgrowth of that very confrontation. Institutionalism replaced civli administration of freedoms long before by continued assaults on the American Middle Class from long before by those same protagonists and their heirs that have been living off the American Middle Class economy for decades and every distraction to protecting those freedoms have been are are continuing today. The corruption is exquisitely evident in all aspects of the maliciousness of governance as none can escape the same calim tat has plagued the American Middle Class for generations. What Americans used to be able to trust was squandered so very long ago that no one in power can rely upon the obfuscated truth: so they lie to the American Middle Class as they have been doing bureaucratically for at least as long as this baby boomer can recall. It will take more than the next election to sort out the intransigence, but the Middle East squabble may solve that for America first, since it appears America cannot solve it for herself anymore.
