Hamas and the new coalition of the willingReader comment on item: [The Hamas Victory and] Prospects for Peace Submitted by Harrak (Canada), Feb 1, 2006 at 00:27 Hamas `s massive victory in palestinian elections (77% participation -BBC which is way higher than participation the USA) will have the following impacts:Inpire the Arab public opinion and candidates to have radical views to be elected. That is of course the mistake of Israeli theocrates who refused the Clinton`s initiative for peace that was the last golden peace opportunity. So, I wish they enjoy their fruits and take the chance to greet the man who was seriously commited to peace making, Mr Bill Clinton. The Israeli govt and may be the West will cut financing, that will lead to a opposite effect. Palestinians will seek a third way out and will try to be self sufficient locally with help less help flowing from Egypt -Gaza- and West Bank -Jordan-. Making palestinians hungry will lead more want to die and therefore more suicide operations and increasing -rather than- decreasing hamas popularity. Iran can never help hamas with weapons. Geographically it is impossible. But, the Egyptian and Jordanian Govts may want to pressure Israel or the West by closing their eyes on light weaponry comming from Iran but no more than that. Iran and Israel is a different issue but attacking Iran -chief media supporter for Hamas- will make Iran use its agents in Hamas -many of them may be Shiites no surprise- to unstabilize the region. With sure and definite strikes from Hizbollah -Faith followers of Iran Leader- things may not go smooth. one participant was wondering if Iran will give arms to Hamas. I think the following questions are more Valid: 1- Other than Katyusha missiles, did Iran supply Hizbollah with Fajr! if so, how can the Iraeli nuke reactor can be protected against a one shot 800 missiles comming down on it from S.lebanon! 2- Does Iran have Nuke war heads! how can one prove that they do not own one! I think based on the political tone, the region of the middle east is going towards a new power order. Iran+ Syria+ Southern Lebanon+ Palestinian territories+ half of Iraqi Govt+ Arab public opinion VERSES the west + israel + kings and long term presidents -god bless-. So the equation is difficult and the solution is the opening of a real freedom -not christianity or judaism- club to confront ideologically the Islamic club. Force -like the German defence minister said- is a strike of madness..It is time to follow the inteligentsia and ignore the discourse based on religion. ..
