Ebru,

It is very simple, in the West we have freedom of speech. That means that from time to time we are going to hear opinions we do not like, we are going to see art or humor we are going to find offensive. If we do not like it, we do not buy the products, do not watch the TV show or do not buy the book.

What we DON'T do is burn embassies, kill film directors, issue death threats on those that have produce the piece we don't like.

We will NOT change the rules, we will NOT sacrifice freedom of speech.

On the positive side, if you don't like it, you are free to leave. No one requires that you are subjected to it, you can switch off TV, stop buying books, papers and magazines or simply flee the country.
