...It actually makes me laugh how you think that muslims are a minority group in the UK! Yeah...right (hope you notice the sarcasm) Yeah, we sound like a minority group when you phrase it like that like that, but there are muslims everywhere, all over the UK. The UK is a multicultural place, it's time you stop thinking of it as a Christian western culture. Looks like you've been living in the dark ages.
Haven't you been to London? It's a wonderful place. Full of muslims, hindus, jews, christians and many other religions as well as atheists. GET USED TO IT.
OK Sabah,
I just stopped laughing........(wipe away tears!) Yes you are right, the UK is a wonderfully multicultural place.
Where in my post did I say muslims were not welcome to practice their own religion, or Jews, or Hindus etc. You suggest however, that a nation should give away it's identity, it's curlture and it's religion for the sake of a minority. But why should I stop thinking of my country as a Christian country? It is and has been for the last half a millenia or more. (why would you want me to do that?)
My point was, why should legislation of sovereign nations be changed as a result of a bleating minority who demand respect from the rest of the civilised world without showing any themselves.
I don't see Islamic countries opening their doors for other denominations to practice their religions. (Maybe I should try to open a Catholic church in Saudi Arabia, do you think that'll be alright?) Who's in the dark ages?
So yes, you are privileged to be able to practice your religion in the UK without fear of reprisals or death. But at the same time you should also respect the culture you are living in which includes other religions, satire, comedy and heaven forbid advertising and branding. It's time Islam grew up, grew a thicker skin don't you think. As Jesus said (Son of God by the way) turn the other cheek. (ahh but that's right you can't change or evolve the religion you follow can you? I guess you"ll just have to stay rooted in the 7th century)
