The Same?Reader comment on item: Will Yasser Arafat try to stop suicide bombings? Submitted by Russ Parker (United States), May 16, 2002 at 11:06 At the end of the interview, if it can be called an interview, Mr. Matthews, says that Ariel Sharon and Yasser Arafat are the same and have in their minds the same goal of destroying Israel. Huh? Is he serious or was he taking advantage of his position on the show, being able to make the last comment, just to express his obviously biased personal point of view? I certainly do not have any experience working these thrash and bash shows, but every time I read the transcript of one it seems like a setup. And the results are predictably the same each time. The parting shot is taken at Israel without the opportunity for response or discussion from either side. Too bad. Mr. Pipes has some very sound arguments to present and these shows will not allow it. His other venues seem to be much more productive.
