Reality trumps feelingsReader comment on item: Monitoring Iraqis Living in the United States Submitted by William Zelko (United States), Nov 20, 2002 at 15:37 Thank you, Mr. Pipes, for favoring sensible profiling. The reality is that Americans have a right to defend themselves. But the feelings of irrational multiculturalists, religionists, elitist "liberals", subjectivists, and fuzzy-headed pragmatists ... have no necessarily basis in reality. Indeed, some in this latter crowd will admit - especially in philosophy classes- that reality is unknowable to them and that their only recourse is to indulge their subjectivist urges. So, if for unknown reasons, they feel uncomfortable with profiling, they will judge it to be wrong. They will then rationalize their feelings with palatable explanations - just to feel good. But (as someone once said) I choose reality. They can have everything else. Bill Zelko Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
