Violence and religionReader comment on item: Israel's President Reflects Candidly on Islam Submitted by rick (United States), May 8, 2006 at 18:22 The "prophet" mohammed was a war lord. Is there any need to go further? Imagine Jesus Christ upon a horse with a sword conquering cities, murdering the male inhabitants and taking slaves of the young women and children. Could this be the beginnings of a religion of peace and love? But that is exactly mohammed in his destruction of the Jewish city of Medina, the second most holy city in Islam. Why do you think the sword is so prominent in the flag of many Islamic nations? Conquest, subjugation, slavery are all aspects of Islam. Even today, we see the exact same Islam at work in Darfur. Bin Laden and his crew are merely the most prominent jihadists in our media. What they espouse is not an uncommon Islam. The difference is that Islam is a conquering and imperialist religion intend on enriching itself at the expense of other non-Muslims. Bin Laden is so possessed by an inflamed Islam and demonic in his efforts to kill as many Westerners as he can. However, even after 9/11 it was reported that certain Wall Street investments were made on the eve of 9/11 that benefited al-qaeda enormously. So the old Islamic idea of enriching oneself at the expense of infidels wasn't forgotten either.
