The Peril of AppeasementReader comment on item: [Is Israel] Winning by retreating? Submitted by B Kostynuik (Canada), May 26, 2002 at 20:42 What part of the goal "driving the Jews into the sea," published and stated publically by "moderate" Arab leaders and professors and/or Islamist fundamental clerics under the distorted western liberal labels of "oppression" and "liberation, " do we not believe? The endgame is no mystery as Hamas and Hizbollah, among many others (supported by so-called "moderate" Arab police states like Egypt and Saudi Arabia) continue to make very clear. We in the West divert our attentions to "understand" and appease the unappeasable at our long-term peril. And only those interested (truly) in peace consider gestures of appeasement like withdrawals. There has been no word for over 50 years, from the Arab community about appeasing or needing to appease Israel. Why not if they are the so-called "aggressors"?
