Response to Two Other CommentsReader comment on item: [Is Israel] Winning by retreating? Submitted by William J. Sturm (United States), May 26, 2002 at 23:51 "Israel's Options" by Ken P. has some interesting possibilities. It seems that Israel is attacked and goes out and wins a war and lots of territory. But, with the slow 'give back' of the spoils of war to their avowed enemy (perhaps out of fear of being outnumbered) they pay a dear price. The loser of a war can always win back the territory lost simply by forcing these lands to be returned in any lands-for-peace proposals. I think this commentator is saying: Take the territory and keep on taking it until you have it all....if that is what it takes to defeat the enemy. No more land for peace deals! And "Other Land For Peace Failure" by Shep F. : Good insight. How about a massive Voice of America message booming the truth to the poor manipulated people in the Arab world? Who cares about world opinion or Arab opinion? We need only be certain that it contains the truth. Good insight Shep! Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
