See no evil, hear no evilReader comment on item: Might the American Jewish Establishment Wake to the Threat of Radical Islam? Submitted by Determined_in_Dallas (United States), Aug 9, 2006 at 11:36 Even following Ms. Shapiro's article, the Detroit Jewish Community appears to be in denial about the threat from the large group of Islamists, but miles away. In a recent conversation with my Jewish, affiliated father of the Northwest (Jewish) suburbs of Detroit, I inquired about the coverage by the Mainstream Detroit and Jewish media of the Dearbornistan hatefests. I learned that there was barely a whisper by either media group about the anti-American and anti-Jewish demonstrations. Being rather disturbed that the media had entirely neglected these events, I asked my father what he thought about it. He proceeded to tell me that it was good that there was little coverage. I paraphrase, "if the media covered it, then that would likely stir up more antisemitism. So, I think it is better this way." If this group is really becoming more powerful as Ms. Shapiro believes, then I think the path is clear. The Detroit Jewish Community needs to use all the tools available to pressure the local media into covering the Arab Community. Any Arab event tainted with anti-American or anti-Jewish hate needs to be known by as many people as possible. Thorough coverage by the media is the key. Only when the mask is removed from the haters, will people be able to take action against the dangerous people in the Arab Community. My greatest concern is that the Jewish Community in Detroit will proceed as my father suggested - ignoring the dangerous evil in their midst. This strategy will only insure that the Arabs will gain such power, that they will be unstoppable in their real goal of Islamicizing the U.S. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
