Militant Islam is in direct opposition with Western colonialism and imperialism both as dangerous as each other. That's why it's growing. Most Palestinians were secularists a few decades ago; lets not forget many of their institutions, such as PLO were founded in conjunction with Palestinian/Arab Christians. Fast-forward a couple of decades later after being stabbed in the back and front by the US they have become militant Islamists. A sad, sad state of affairs, what goes around comes around. If their aim is world domination then they will surely fail, however if their aim is liberation of Palestine and Muslim and Arab lands then US will fail, as did Russia and Britain.
