Democracy is dictatorship by the majority.Reader comment on item: A Better World[, Explains Michael Mandelbaum] Submitted by Goh Heung Yong. (Malaysia), Jan 1, 2003 at 19:43 Mr. Pipes is right about free markets but is mistaken about the need for democracy. Democracy is just another form of dictatorship. If we are to have a civilized world, we need governments that are tightly controlled by clearly defined, objective laws. We need governments that respect individual rights, a system of government that the Founding Fathers of America had in mind, that is a Constituted Republic.A moral government is one where the actions of government officials are tightly controlled by an objectively defined Constitution and there is a separation of the government from the economy. In a nutshell, we will have no peace as long as democracies abound. And oh, one more thing. A truly free market is not possible under a democracy.
