Tallahassee Democrat caves to CAIR's Modern McCarthyismReader comment on item: Here's what [Hussam Ayloush of] CAIR doesn't say about me - or its record Submitted by Warren Pollock (United States), Jan 4, 2003 at 16:42 "The Tallahassee Democrat" may not have the guts to print this. I would appreciate if you post it. Let that publication feel the heat from the correct side of the issue!----- Original Message ----- From: Warren Pollock To: tdedit@taldem.com Cc: amoore@worldnetdaily.com ; bcotterell@taldem.com ; jwmiller@taldem.com Sent: Saturday, January 04, 2003 4:14 PM Subject: Modern McCarthyism - Defeating American Journalism Letter to the Editor Mr. John W. Miller Executive Editor Tallahassee Democrat 277 N. Magnolia Drive Tallahassee, FL 32301 Your publication has jeopardized the integrity of American journalism by kowtowing to the Council on American Islamic Relations. That organization has viciously targeted for censure some very responsible and knowledgeable people that can help America to cut through the dissonance, cultural complexity, and the issue of religion as politic. I am not saying that the email statements of your journalist were correct. I am saying that more appropriate statements and ideas are being subjected to an updated brand of McCarthyism. By failing to defend your staff member you have directly played into that evil. If you want to start to understand the situation regarding the methods of CAIR I would urge you to start at the Islamic Supreme Council of America (ISCA) and contrast the two organizations. Compared to that newspaper that organization had grapple with as similar if not worse campaign of intimidation. "The carefully orchestrated and calculated plot to intimidate Shaykh Kabbani into retracting his statements only goes to prove the unwillingness to tolerate differences of opinion and belief; as well as the extent to which they would go to silence the voice of opposition. These organizations have recklessly endangered the lives of our officers and members by unjustly provoking the community against us. We shall hold them personally responsible for any physical, emotional, or psychological damages that may ensue from their irresponsible behavior. " – ISCA General Secretary, Dr. Hedieh Mirahmadi. I am certain that your newspaper was the target of harassment, on statements made that were not particularly responsible. The real mistake by your paper however was to create legitimacy for the face of evil armed with the pen rather than the sword.
