Dear John Stauffer

Do all US-Americans think that the opposite of right-wing is left-wing? Even Dr. Pipes seems to have succumbed to this notion (if I read him correctly, since he has forgotten a "not" in his comment). I plead for honesty among the politicians, which must be guaranteed by the voters not strafing the honest in the next polls. The voters have bred generations of dishonest politicians by punishing the honest ones. And Bush is one of the most dishonest, careless and royalty-pretending politicians to date. He behaves as if he is prez by divine grace and infallible and surrounds himself with lackeys who play this shabby game with him. (Read the response by rick to my post and you will have some answers).

Both Christianity and islam are totalitarian (qua monotheistic) closed-minded ideologies and their problems are not solvable. Just like in mathematics some problems have no solution. I do not wish to touch them even with a long pole. I hope they stew in their own problems and let us non-christian non-muslims live in this-worldly peace. I do not wish to enter into any posthumous heaven whatsoever. I would be perfectly happy also in their (Christian or Islamic) hells. When I read Christian or Islamic scholars, leaders, theologians etc. I know I have to avoid this "holy" lot for the sake of reason and peace.

Human beings are neither equal nor equal-valued and hence a caste system of sorts comes into existence in all large and growing complex societies (so don't bring up Iceland as a counter-example). Caste system (with its related apartheid) is thus an alternative to racism, fascism, ethno-fascism, religion-based fascism or nationalism. This explains why even hindu fascists are against the caste system.

You asked for a solution – I have this one that these religious persons ought to be ridiculed by all who are this-worldly and reasonable. I also gave you the comment about fascism and "alternatives" to it. No solution will however work because there are people, who will not want it to work. I am not frustrated because I am a realist. God created mankind in order to satisfy his sadism and cynicism, so why be sad about our defeats? (But then that sounds cynical on my part). When I watch Bush and his performance I know how foolish and manipulable voters even in a rich "advanced" country can be.

Let us be honest and outspoken, and wait to be defeated (because of our honesty) with dignity. Or may be there is a good-natured god who saves uo from islamic fascism soon. You know the taoist philosophy of wu wei (do nothing).
