Jihad is the danger

Reader comment on item: Harvard Loves Jihad

For Moslems "jihad" is one of the five duties of the islam which are: Assalat(to pray), Assaoum(to fast), Alhajj(to visit Mecca), Azoukat(to pay the tenth of what you make) and Aljihad(to fight for God).

In Arabic it doesn't need any translation to know that Jihad means war against the non Muslim. The term is used very clearly everywhere in the arab world to mean war.

We would be very grateful for those who said that Jihad is a "struggle without arms" if they can convince Hizbulla or Hamas, or the Islamic Madrassas in Pakistan, or even the Saoudis, that "Allah" is not asking for an Army to fight for him and not happy with those who kill themselves just to have the opportunity to kill a Jew or a Christian or any non Muslim, or even Moslems sometimes (like in Algeria) .

We in Lebanon, we have the experience and we have tried for so long to have a Moslem "Elite" able to lead the Moslems into the twenty first century's civilisation in adding to Islam the "tolerance" and the acceptance of "Others", and we ended up by having Hizbulla as the "Elite".

The problem of the fellows in Harvard or elsewhere in the Western World is that when they realise that there is a danger and they are afraid to face it, they try to hide under the "smart way" of avoiding the clash, they try to run away from the danger in changing its name to something less scary, like calling a Lion "big Cat" and convince your self that if you approach it as a Cat it will not harm you. The problem here is that you are convincing only yourself and cheating your friends, but in no way you can convince the Lion that he become a Cat. The best way, if you cannot defend yourself from a big danger, is not to lull yourself in saying that there is no danger but to try to do something, at least to tell others that there is a danger.

Mr. Pipes, you are doing the right thing in pointing out the danger, and as long as you can continue doing so you will wake up more and more people to be aware of this danger. You don't need to go too far to find the examples of what is Jihad, you just have to read every Arabic news paper or any Islamic internet site in Arabic to have real examples from the spirit of the Jihad they are spreading around the world.

We wish the Lion would become a lovely big Cat but this is in "our dreams" and not in Moslem's...
