Al-ArianReader comment on item: Terrorist Profs Submitted by Mary J. Hoekstra (United States), Mar 1, 2003 at 21:21 Dear Daniel Pipes. As a resident of the Tampa Bay area, you cannot imagine how happy I was when I heard that Al-Arian and his cohorts had been arrested and led to jail in hand-cuffs. We (residents of this area) have been reading about him in the local newspapers ever since the mid-1990's. We are really sick of him and this whole mess. The Florida taxpayers have been paying his salary for the last two years that he has not been teaching and we are very happy that he has at last been fired. All his supporters write editorials in the newspapers in sympathy of him. All they write about is all the "freedoms" and "rights" which they enjoy in this country. In fact, the St. Petersburg Times recently published an article written by Al-Arian himself which he had written about the rights of people to have diverse opinions. His arrogance is incredible. He is on a hunger strike right now. He is protesting his "right" to support the Palestinians cause. I hope he rots in jail. I hope that you keep up with this situation. Mary J.
