Thank youReader comment on item: Muslims for Pipes Submitted by Melvin A. Fechter (United States), Apr 21, 2003 at 13:24 Thank you for this article evidencing what objectively, even without evidence, one knows must be true: that a large element of Islam deplores the conduct and philosophy of militant Islam. May that element speak clearly and loudly through such Muslim intellectuals as you have named, and may those Muslim intellectuals be more proactive so that the non-Muslim world will know they constitute a significant, political force, and so that they may rally the more pacific among them to their cause. May Islam take a rightful place among the religions of the world willing to share the world, even any small part of it, and live at peace with other faiths; at this point, I fear, the more peaceful, the silent of Islam seem on the whole to be sitting timidly on the fence, waiting to see which will be victorious -- tolerance or bigotry.
