Reader comment on item: Are We Safer?

Submitted by David Stourclif (United Kingdom), Apr 25, 2003 at 07:47

For many years the west has ignored what other people respect. Islam for some is a way to live, its the guidelines of how to live. Muslims believe in this and it is a fact. But still we call those women who have a scarf on oppressed?! , we see Islamic law unjust and against human rights?! Well lets face it we are wrong! We are sat on the other side of the world thinking that we are always right, we see everything through are own eyes, is it not the time to look through their eyes to see how they see us?
Is not the time we see what pain and sufferings we have caused?
Islam is a religion of peace, there are no muslim extremists, and those who are of this type should not be called muslims! Islam is a religion of self defence, if there are muslim militia anywhere how many times have we looked back to see when we provoked these people?
Iranians celebrate the defeat of the US, but have we ever asked ourselves why?
"They had American hostages", one might say, but what did we do that led to this? were we not against the creation of an islamic government? isnt that why we backed the Iraqi led war against Iran and we Helped Saddam? Then Saddam disobeid us and we decided to get rid of him?
241 were killed in the bombing in Lebonan, did we ever ask ourselves what did we do wrong?
Oh, i forgot we have to take over the world and force them to live our way! isnt that the policy we have now in Iraq? I have no idea how many western lives will be lost because of this greed of ours!
The Truth Hurts, we have commited many mistakes in the past, and we are still doing it, lets reconsider the way we think, the way we treat others, Lets live in a world where peace rules! not under our control, under the control of Humanity
