I recall another BenedictReader comment on item: Pope Benedict XVI Changes His Tone Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), May 28, 2007 at 23:51 In the PBS Series, "Liberty Kids", Benedict Arnold was more than miffed when less qualified, according to Benedict Arnold, military officers received promotions but not him. Hence, he travelled down the path where he had to deal with the epithet, "Benedict the traitor". I am accusing Pope Benedict of almost the same, for frankly raising a mirror to show how hideous people can get (just ask any knowledgeable Coptic Christian about life in Egypt since the raiders from Arabia arrived there roughly 1400 years ago) - and then altering that mirror; this is a distinct show of non confidence in the efforts of those who carry the best of the past into the future. For there is such a thing as fidelity to the strengths of Jerusalem, Athens and Rome. For if the fusion of Jerusalem, Athens and Rome does not succeed, well it is better to go down fighting and then turn the tables on those who use the benefits of the West against those qualities which brought about those benefits.
